Our animal visitation program is called TAKE A PAWZ. Its’ primary focus is women and girls suffering or recovering from eating disorders. Animals and humans share a unique bond. Whether it is an abused child, lonely senior citizen or someone suffering with addiction, animals can have a healing affect and can bring comfort. Having suffered the debilitating disease of an eating disorder for over fifteen years of her life, Nika Animal Network Founder, Tressa Lucas, has a very personal understanding of how animals can help us through difficult times. Animals can break through barriers where humans are not able to and help shift our focus from negative to positive. TAKE A PAWZ is like taking a breath. It is a quiet time to shift our focus with the help of an animal friend. We want to heighten the awareness of the animal – human bond. If we can help one person suffering with an eating disorder that will be a Victory.
